Faux Silk and Cheaters Bow - One Hour Card Class 019 OHCC019

Faux Silk Technique Instructions:
Cut a piece of tissue paper a couple of inches larger than the card stock you are adhering it to.  Smooth out the tissue paper.  Make a sandwich with the Stampin’ Pierce Mat at the bottom, a piece of scrap paper and then the tissue paper.  Ink the flower stamp with Black ink and stamp with the stem at the very bottom of the tissue paper.  Hold in position for about 30 seconds to allow the ink to penetrate.  Allow to dry a couple of minutes.

Crumple the tissue paper up in a tight ball, and then very carefully unravel the paper. Smooth it out but not completely as you still want a few creases left.

Using a glue-stick, apply glue all over the cardstock piece you are going to adhere the tissue paper to.
Adhere the tissue paper, leaving a few creases as shown. Wrap the excess tissue paper around to the back of the cardstock and adhere with the glue-stick.

To make a Cheaters Bow, wrap the ribbon around the glue pen and tie a single knot.  Pull the tails along the length of the glue pen.

Tie another knot pulling the tails away from your tool.

Slide your ribbon off the tool.  You will now have a loop in the middle of your ribbon.  Pinch the loop together at the middle and cut on an angle to open.

Wrap around flower panel and tape to the back.  Trim ribbon.

Using Tissue Paper and Freezer Paper to make an Envelope
Turn iron on a medium-high setting.
Cut the freezer paper 8” square.  Cut the piece of tissue paper at least 10” square.
Crumple the tissue paper, open and crumple again to add texture.

Carefully smooth out the tissue paper but don’t remove all the wrinkles.

Lay papers on your ironing board with the freezer paper on the bottom (wax side up) and the tissue paper on top (pretty side up).

Put your iron in one place for a few seconds, lift it up, don’t slide it, and put it down again somewhere else so as not to smooth out the wrinkles.  Overlap your pressings.
Turn paper over and press again.
Cut excess tissue paper off flush with the freezer paper.
Turn your paper over (tissue paper side down) and iron it again.  Turn it over again (tissue side up) and iron again.
Complete using the Envelope Punch Board.

SU277 Bliss

Stamps: Bliss (SAB 2011).

Paper: Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, page from an old book.

Ink: Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze.

Accessories: Very Vanilla ribbon, rhinestones, sponges.

Punches: Spiral, Elegant Butterfly.

Because I used a page from an old book, I wanted to strengthen the side that I was going to punch so I scored the left side at ½” then glued it to the wrong side.

Once dry, I cut the page to 3-1/4” wide by 5” long.  Rip the top, bottom and right side about ¼”.  Sponge all edges in Tangerine Tango.  Punch straight edge with the Spiral punch.

Stamp the bottom of the Tangerine Tango card with the flourish in Tangerine Tango ink.  Adhere the newsprint panel on an angle to the card front.

Cut a Very Vanilla panel at 2-1/2” square.  Stamp flourish in Tangerine Tango ink towards the top and the left.  Ink Bliss with Cajun Craze and stamp at the bottom.  Sponge edges in Cajun Craze.  Mount onto a Cajun Craze panel 2-3/4” by 3-1/2” long.  Cut ribbon 4” long and tape ends to the back of the panel.

Adhere panel about ½” from right side of card.  Cut another piece of ribbon 4” long and tie a knot around previous ribbon.  Trim if necessary.

Stamp butterfly on Very Vanilla with Cajun Craze ink.  I know the Elegant Butterfly doesn’t fit this butterfly but I used it anyways.  Sponge edges with Cajun Craze ink.  Curl the wings.  Adhere to the card.  Add rhinestones.

Workshop Cards W154, W155, W156, W157

Here are some cards we made at Joanne’s workshop.  She always has a lot of choices for us but these are the ones I chose.

Workshop Card W154
Stamps: Father Christmas.
Paper: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Candy Lane DSP.
Ink: Real Red marker, Early Espresso, Stampin’ Chalk Marker.
Accessories: Dimensionals, 3/8″ Stitched satin Ribbon, pencil crayons, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, baby wipe, sponge.
Dies: Stitched Shapes Framelit, Layering Framelit.
Stamped Father Christmas with Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake card stock. I used ordinary pencil crayons to add the color and the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker to color the furs on his suit and his beard.
I cut him out with the largest oval Stitched Shapes Framelit die and sponged with Early Espresso ink, matted it on an Oval Layering Framelit die cut from Mossy Meadow.  Added Dimensionals
I inked the top image on the card front with Early Espresso ink, then removed the ink from Christmas Greetings with a baby wipe, used the marker-to-rubber inking technique with my Real Red marker.  I also used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to be sure it all lined up.  Sponged edges with Early Espresso ink.
Father Christmas stamp set can be found in the 2016 Holiday Catalog.

Workshop Card W155
Paper: White, Dapper Denim, Real Red.
Stamps: Cookie Cutter.
Ink: Black, Soft Suede marker.
Accessories: Snowflake EF, Frosted Sequins, Cherry Cobbler dazzling diamonds, blender pen.
Punches/Dies: Hearth and Home Thinlits, Bitty Banners Framelits, Cookie Cutter Builder punch.

Workshop Card W156

Paper: Melon Mambo, White.
Ink: Melon Mambo, Black.

Workshop Card W157
Stamps: Fundamental Phrases.

Ink: Perfect Plum.
Accessories: rhinestone basic jewels, Dimensionals, sponge, Wink of Stella.
Punches/Dies: Bloomin' Heart Thinlits, Bitty Banners Framelits.
We cut the heart die from both colors of cardstock then cut both hearts in half.  I seemed to do a lot of fiddling to get everything lined up compared to the others but I got it!  The die cut blossoms is layered atop the Bloomin' Hearts cut out.

SU275 Bliss

Paper: Marina Mist, White.

Stamps: Bliss.

Ink: Marina Mist, Crumb Cake.

Accessories: Gently Falling EF, mounts, sponge, rhinestones, linen thread, Framed Tulips EF, ribbon from my stash.

Punches: Elegant Butterfly, large oval, scallop oval, 1/16” circle.

I started out by cutting my white panel larger than the embossing folder (4.5 x 6”) then I lightly sponged the edges.

I cut the second white panel to fit inside the tulips – about 4-3/8 x 3-1/8”.  I did the stamping on it and sponged the edges before putting it through the embossing folder.

Added ribbon to the smaller panel about 1-1/4” from bottom.  Trimmed the larger panel then adhered the smaller panel to it.

Adhered the panel to my card front and completed it.  I don’t think the Elegant butterfly punch that I used is for this butterfly but it was too tiny to hand cut!
