Butterfly Punch Pansy - One Hour Card Class 013 OHCC013

This is one of those ‘old’ techniques that never gets old!  If you look closely, you can see they are made from to Butterfly punches that are layered with an brad holding them together in the center.

Punch out two butterflies from Shimmer White cardstock – you need two for each flower.  Spritz them with water, allowing the water to pool.  Load Aqua Painter with Crushed Curry ink from a re-inker and touch the brush to the middle of the butterflies.   The ink will spread, but you might have to "help" it along.

Touch the outside edges with Elegant Eggplant ink from a re-inker.

Let dry.  Use Eggplant Envy Marker to draw lines to the center of the butterflies.  Curl wings with a bone folder.

Adhere one butterfly crosswise over the other with a gold brad.

We lined an envelope for this card following THIS tutorial.

Cardstock: SU! Shimmer, Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green, White.

Stamp Sets: Butterfly Basics, Dots for Days, a signature stamp or an address label.

Ink: Garden Green, Crushed Curry re-inker, Pale Plum re-inker, Elegant Eggplant marker,

Paper Pieced Bumblebee One Hour Card Class 010 OHCC010

The beautiful Dragonfly Dreams bundle set includes a sweet little bumblebee – I love how realistic he looks!  I have made many dragonfly cards but decided it was time to use the bee. I made the honeycomb background by brayering ink onto the raised side of the Honeycomb Embossing Folder then closing the folder and giving it a good rub to transfer the ink.

Added some splatters and lace images to my panel, then roughed up the edges before adhering it to my card.

I stamped and die cut the bee.  Sponged his wings.

Then I sponged a scrap of white with ink and stamped the body only.

I cut out the body and attached it to the wing piece.

I changed the color of my baker’s twine by setting the twine on the ink pad.  Set a sponge on top and pull the twine to recolor it.

I think the rest is fairly straight forward.  Not that it shows in the picture but I added a bit of sparkle on the bee with clear Wink of Stella.

And, of course, a matching envelope.

Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams (Occasions 2017), Gorgeous Grunge, Delicate Details (SAB 2017).

Cardstock: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Very Vanilla, White, Black.

Ink: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Basic Gray, black marker, Black.

Folded Paper Flower - One Hour Card Class 009 - OHCC009

My good friend and stamping buddy, Lana, gifted me with these two paper flowers.  She said she has a die that does all the scoring and scallop edging for her.  I dawned on me that it has been a lot of years since I made these so I thought I would show you how to make them without a die.

There seems to be a lot of different names for this folded paper flower - paper rosette, fan fold flower, fan fold medallion, accordion paper flower, are some that I have seen.  Regardless of what it is called, it is pretty simple to make. I came across this layout on Pinterest and really liked it.  I made very slight changes to make it fit my folded paper flower.

I cut the DSP I” x 10” and scored every ¼” from the wrong side for this flower.

I folded it like an accordion.  Once I persuaded it into a circle, I adhered a 1-3/8” circle covered in glue to the wrong side.

Flip the flower to the right side and fill the hole with glue – I do think a Hot glue gun would be quicker to use for this part.  Hold until the glue starts to set.

Then set a heavy object on top of the rosette to weigh it down while the glue cures – I used my external hard drive and my coffee cup!

Finished it off with a tiny die and a pearl.

The banner was cut at 1-3/4” x 4-3/4”.

Once I die cut the flourish, I cut it apart as I wanted about another ½” spread from it.

And, of course, a matching envelope.

I decided I would make a Thank You card for Lana using one of her folded paper flowers she gave me.

I received an exchange card from a good stamping friend that I’ve known probably for ten years but have never met, Madge.  Stampin Up! claims there is ‘no shame in copying’ so I copied Madge’s - I loved the layout of her card!

Stamps: Flourishing Phrases.

Cardstock: writing tablet paper, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, white, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP (09/10).

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry.

Tools: Score board, Fast Fuse Adhesive, Sponge, Score board, Tombow glue, bone folder, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Silicone Craft Sheet, Dimensionals.

Punches/Dies: 1-3/8” circle, wide oval punch, Flourish Thinlits dies.
