Card SU246 Perfect Blend

I have lots of odds n ends of DSP so thought I would try using up some of it.  Kinds CASED Inking by the Bay’s card.  The DSP I used is Petal Patch.  I stamped the coffee cup on Blush Blossom cs, cut it out then stamped the lid and middle on to the DSP, cut it out and mounted it to the card.  Pretty simple!  I just eye balled it to cut out the flag ends.  The mounts have made this a blurry scan!

Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom, Bashful Blue, Petal Patch DSP from 2006.

Stamps: Perfect Blend.

Ink: Close to Cocoa.

Accessories: Decorative Dots EF, Square Lattice EF, sponge, mounts, linen thread, button.

Punches: Tag, Heart to Heart.

Card SU243 With Sympathy Grunge

Love this Gorgeous Grunge stamp set!  If you look closer, you will notice a faint inked image of the Honeycomb embossing folder in the background.  I spotted this on someone else’s blog but I now cannot find it!  To do it, simply ink the raised side of the embossing folder, put your card on top of the inked side and close the flap.  Now, rub gently with your hand and there it is!  Too cool!

Cardstock: White, Daffodil Delight, Orchid Opulence.

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Bloom with Hope.

Ink: Daffodil Delight, Orchid Opulence, Island Indigo, Pixie Pink.

Accessories: Honeycomb EF, sponge, rhinestones, Sizzix embosslits Beautiful Wings.

SU238 Trick or Treat Owl Card

I sponged and pounced Pumpkin Pie ink on my moon.  After I embossed my spider web, I swiped over it with my white ink pad.

Stamps – Holiday Best.

Card Stock - Black, Lavender Lace, White, Pumpkin Pie.

Ink - Black, White, Pumpkin Pie.

Accessories - sponge, Owl Builder punch, Coluzzle to cut a 2-5/8” circle, Spider web embossing folder, Wide oval punch, Decorative Label punch, Bird Builder punch.

I sponged and pounced Pumpkin Pie ink on my moon.  After I embossed my spider web, I swiped over it with my white ink pad.

AG Doll Handkerchief Skirt Halloween Costume Tutorial AG014

I sure don’t know how October creeped up on us so fast but here it is!  Here is one outfit I made for Isabelle!  If you would like one, click "Like" on my American Girl Doll Creations by Carole Facebook page as the ordering info is there.

One Easy Peasant Blouse AG014a

Dorriebelle has a neat tutorial on making a Peasant top for Ariel.  She has complete instructions on how to make it fit any doll so check it out.  I used her calculations and converted it to fit my American Girl Doll, Isabelle.

Cut cotton or cotton blend fabric 28” wide by 7” long.  Measure and press a half inch hem at the bottom and top of the long edges.  Finish all four sides with a serger. Sew one long edge to make the casing for your elastic.

Thread 12” of 1/4" wide elastic through the casing.  Make sure the elastic is flat within the casing.

Secure ends.

Arrange the gathers evenly – this is the hardest part!  Sew the center back seam from the hem to the elastic. Reinforce the elastic with a few extra stitches.

Now hem the bottom.

From the wrong side, find and mark the center front.  Pin flat to the center back.

Draw a line 2.5” from the sides or folds.

Draw a line at 2.5” from the hem upwards then ½” towards front.

Sew on these lines.

Cut down the center and snip into the corners.

Repeat for the 2^nd arm.

Turn it right side out and you are done! I love that there is no bias tape to fiddle with, no velcro and all the hemming is done beforehand!  I added a little bow and some trim to the bottom of the sleeves to match the Handkerchief skirt.

Around her shoulders 15.5”

Around her waist and arms 16.5”

The length of her arms 6”

Her hand diameter 4”

Handkerchief skirt  AG014b

Cut fabric 14” square.  Fold in quarters.  Draw a 1.75” circle from point.  Press up ¼” at the hem and sew.  Repeat for a contrasting skirt.

Lay the printed skirt on top of the plain one – turn it so that it is in a diamond shape.

Baste together at the waist.

I decided to use a decorative stitch on my orange skirt.

Cut fold over elastic 10” long.  Sew together.  Divide into quarters.

 

Divide waist into quarters.  Match quarter marks.  Sew stretching elastic to fit.  Fabric is a bit too heavy for a Hanky or Handkerchief skirt but thought it was ok for a costume.

Witch Hat AG014c

Found a free pattern to make witch hats for the AG dolls at You Can Make This.  I followed her instructions and it went together very well!  I did use a light weight iron on interfacing for both the brim and the crown.  Instead of sewing the brim right sides together and turning, I just serged my edges and had no turning to do.

Trick or Treat Bag AG014d

Cut fabric 4 1/2 x 9 inch.  Measure and fold the short ends 1/2 inch towards the wrong side of the fabric.  Chalk mark the center on each folded piece then again at 1” from the center mark.

Attach 4” of ¼” ribbon to hold the ribbons in place.

Serge across both short ends to finish the edges.  Repeat for other short side.

 Fold the fabric in half with right sides together.  Sew the side edges using a ¼” seam.  Hem the top close to the fold and another row at ½” away catching ribbon.

Beginning Project Life by Stampin' Up Scrapbooking

I decided I was going to use the standard photo pocket pages.  Most of my pictures are taken horizontally so I figured this would work best for me.  You get four, 4x6” pockets and four 3x4 pockets on one page, 12 pages in a package - 135295.  Next, you will need an album.  I chose the Black Faux Leather 12x12”, 3 ring binder - 135292.  And the Project Life journaling pens - 135304.

Then I ordered the Happiness is Project Life Card Collection - 135307.  You would scratch your head at me if you seen the amount of paper I have but whatever, it’s in my hands!  But look how much stuff you get!  Each piece is double sided, some are for journaling, some are horizontal, some are vertical - the prints and patterns are the perfect complement to your pages.  You get a large assortment of 4x6, 3x4 and 4x4 cards!  These are fillers for the page pockets should you not have enough pictures.

Everything fits perfectly in the box it comes in.  There is even a spot to hold your pen!

Of course, I had to order the Happiness is Project Life Accessory Pack – 135309 since it matches so nicely with the card collection!  You get little pocket cards, sticker sheets, cork sticker sheets, accent sticker pads, some die cut wood elements and a roll of washi tape!

There is a blank spot at the back of the Card Collection box.  The Accessory Pack fits perfectly in that spot!  You could use the lid to store the pictures you are working on.

Now I started sorting/deleting through my pictures on the computer.  I organize my pictures in a program called Zoom Browser – I’m using a PC with Windows 7.  I create a folder called Pictures 2014 or whatever the year is then I add subfolders – 01 January, 02 February etc.   By putting the numbers in front, it keeps the months in order.

Then I had a brainwave – why not put some of the pictures in 3x4” photo boxes in MDS???  So I opened a blank 11x8.5” page and made six, 3x4” photo boxes per page.   I can now right click on it and Insert Duplicate Page!

Then I started dropping pictures that really didn’t have any background that wasn’t important to me.

I uploaded my 4x6” pictures to London Drugs for printing and sent 12 of my MDS pages of 6 pictures each to SU! for printing.  My 4x6 pictures arrived so I dated each one of them.  You can either use a photo safe pen/pencil or I have this date thingy.

My pages from SU! should be here any day!  I can hardly wait!  I noticed a Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits Dies – 135707 - that I may have to order next time.  That would really help to cut out my 3x4 pictures.  Hope to show you some pages as soon as I get some done!

The silver part of this card is ordinary tin foil that was folded 4 times and ran through the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  Neat eh??
