MDS - Magazine Cover Challenge, Heather’s Class2

Once again, it is TUESDAY!!  You know what that means!!  DOWNLOAD DAY!!  Yippee Yahoo!  Check them out!
One of Heather’s favorite features in Scrapbooks Etc. is seeing the cover options that are created - they usually have four pages that all have the same photo and one ends up on the cover, while the other three are showcased in the front of the magazine. She thought we could try something similar so she included a 3 generations photo of her family and challenged us to create a page. This wasn’t a contest, simply a fun way to see how everyone used the photo.

It was an honor to work with a picture of such distinguished ladies!  Not sure my page would make the cover of any magazine but I enjoyed the challenge!  I started out using a sketch by Alesha Walls.
Paper: Tempting Turquoise opacity 80%.

Stamps: Notes and Details, Decorative Overlays.

Embellishments: Brads, Get it Done.

Punches: Square, Timeless Types Junior Numbers, Curly Label, Flag, Eyelet border, Butterfly Shape 1 and 2.

Font: Simply Glamorous.

I tried to remember all the ‘techniques’ I used on this page that I’ve learned from Heather in these two classes.

Zooming in on a picture – didn’t know that button existed!

Center vertically/horizontally on a page – what a time saver!

Making a double label punch with ease.

Using the Change Object layer button – this is such a great function.  Mine doesn’t always work but when it does, it is awesome!

Zooming in on a page – I never used this function very much, don’t know why.  I sure do now tho!

Changing the color of a drop shadow – so neat!

Grouping to resize all in one step!

ScrapSketch55 - for the long weekend!
Alesha's Sketch
I realize that Heather didn’t invent all these fantastic functions in MDS but she is responsible for bringing them to my attention and for that, I would really like to thank her!  The classes were so worth it!

MDS 084 Winter Scene Scrapbook Page

Page before adding Photo boxes
A digital scrap page using My Digital Studio software by Stampin' Up!.
For today’s post, I want to share how simple it is to use a picture as your background ‘paper’ in MDS.  I started out with Textured Baja Breeze as my page color.  Then I added a Photo box, stretched it to within ¼” from the edges.  I popped my photo on then changed the Opacity to 50 to make it faint.  That is all there is to it!  I added 4 more photo boxes and photo’s, matted them in Baja Breeze.  Very simple!

This is a 12x12 page.

MDS - A Moment in my Tummy, Heather’s Class2

Happy Download Tuesday!  Check them out on My DigitalStudio.net!
Heather showed us how she puts a page together using a sketch.  Totally up my alley as I ALWAYS need something to kick start me.  Sometimes my page doesn’t look anything like the sketch I started out with but I ALWAYS need a starter kit!  I really envy people that can just put a page together like Heather!
Paper: Textured Soft Suede, Grad Party, Christmas Cocoa 11.

Stamps: Oh Splat, Timeless, Hello Doily, Hawaii Papaya, Nursery Necessities, Holiday Blitz.

Embellishments: Downtown Grunge, Mis-Stitched.

Punches: Square, Flag, Scallop Edge.

Font: Simply Glamorous.

Sketch Heather used.

MDS 082, Family Scrapbook Page

My Digital Studio Software by Stampin' Up!

Recently found a MDS Blog Hop site that happens every Friday!  Start with Heather Summers and go from there!  You will enjoy it too!
Page before adding Photo boxes.
I did this page some time ago. Can’t remember just where I saw it but I thought it was off the MDS.net site.  Matter of fact, I was sure I had it stored in My Favorites in the MDS site but it is not there.  Although I am sure I did not copy it completely, just know that this is someone else’s idea.

Paper: Villa – Kraft (background).

Stamp Brush Sets: Vintage Overlay13 and 3 (Black) – it will appear to be nothing in your box.  Double click it and there it is.  Fit inside your bleed area; Timeless – car and bike (Soft Suede); Fundamental Phrases –family (black).

This is a 12x12 page.
Embellishments: Round Buttons (Black); Brads (Soft Suede, Black).

Punches: Square – 7x7” (Script - Soft Suede) and 5x5” (Dotted Stripe – Kraft) – I resized Vintage Overlay 6 to 5x5” and set it on top of this square; Tag (Brocade – Kraft); Modern Label (Grid – Kraft).

MDS - I Can Do it Myself, Heather’s Class2

Before we begin, today is Tuesday – DOWNLOAD DAY!  Go to My Digital Studio to see what is new for today! In today’s class, Heather showed us how to shorten our Taffeta ribbon using a punch.  I didn’t use that trick on this page but I really liked her layout so wanted to use it.  I will try her trick in a future page tho.
Paper: Black Textured, Rose Red Villa.

Stamps: Decorative Overlays Starburst (Blushing Bride), Extreme Elements.

Embellishments: Buttons, brad, Stitching, Downtown Grunge, Taffeta Trimmings Ripple (Blushing Bride).

Punch: Star, Heart, Oval.

Font: Clipper.

If you want in on Heather’s tricks & tips, you still have time to sign up to her MDS MadeSimple 2 class.  Because the daily posts don't happen anymore, the site remains open with the content, videos, photos, and discussions etc available until the end of October.  She has given her students permission to post our pages that we did in her class to our Blogs.  I intend to post a page every Tuesday and keep my regular Scrap pages coming on Fridays.
