Another good time at Joanne’s Workshop.  It has been forever since I have been able to go!

SU240 Greetings of the Season Owl Card

This Santa Owl was based on a card I found online using the Stampin Up Owl Punch.   It is so cute and a great addition to my Christmas cards.  To make him, I punched out his feet and very little of his chest in black, aligned and glued his white vest in place on the black.  I punched out a red owl, removed the feet then glued the vest and black feet to the red owl.  I cut a triangle for his hat about ½” wide by 1” tall, topped it with a flower pompom and used the horizontal slot punch to give him fur across the bottom of his hat.  I gave him a black belt, punched a ¼” circle from gold cardstock then centered the ½” circle punch over that for his belt.  Lots of fiddly little detail, but well worth it!!

Stamps – Greetings of the Season (Holiday Mini 2012)

Card Stock - Black, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, White.

Ink - Real Red, Garden Green.

Accessories - Red grosgrain ribbon, sponge, Owl Builder punch, 1/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, Swiss Dots embossing folder, Horizontal slot punch, unknown flower punch, Bird Builder punch.

SU237 Birthday Celebrations Owl Card

This SU Owl Builder Punch is just so darn cute! In the Punch Bunch stamp set, there is an owl that can be stamped then punched with the Owl Builder Punch.  The fence top is made using a Border Punch by Martha Stewat and after stamping the Woodgrain using Chocolate Chip ink I just drew lines down each section with the Early Expresso Marker and a ruler and added a bit of distressing with a sponge and ink. The grass at the bottom is made using Garden Green ink and the SU Inspired by Nature stamp set. The sky background is done using Bashful Blue ink and a sponge.

Stamps: Woodgrain, Inspired by Nature, Upsy Daisy.

Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, scrap of unknown DSP.

Ink: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green.

Accessories: Martha Stewart Border Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Owl Builder Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Early Expresso Marker, ¼” circle punch, Crystal effects, Sponge.

SU236 A Thought Away Owl Card

Have I mentioned how much I love this owl punch?!  As with all these Owl cards, I find it best to punch all the pieces and lay them out first before sticking anything down permanently.

Sewing - Children's Draw String Tea Towel Apron

Here is an easy apron even if you aren’t a seamstress. Because the tea towel is already hemmed, much of the sewing work is already done.

Find center and mark with a pin.  Measure 3” on either side of the center pin and mark.

Measure down 10” on each side and mark with pins.  Fold from the top pin to the side pin on each side and press.

Measure and mark a ¾” seam allowance from the folds.  Cut away.

Serge on this line, re-press and topstitch.  Repeat for other side.

I found this towel a little too long for my 5 year old so I blind hemmed the bottom.  I didn’t really like so much white showing anyways.  I had to add my sewing label, of course!

Cut 3” wide strips of fabric to total 75” long for one continuous tie for a 4 to 6 year old child.  No need to cut on the bias.  Click HERE to see how to join the strips.

Press in half then press each half to the center.

Topstitch both long sides.

 Zigzag across ends.

Feed the tie starting at one side of the apron.

Continue feeding the ties down the other side.

Tie knots in each end so the tie won’t pull out.

Cut a piece of fabric 10” by 12”.

With right sides together, fold to make a piece 5” x 12”.

Sew right sides together with ¼” seam allowance leaving an opening to turn.

Clip corners, turn and press.  Topstitch across the top of the pocket – the opposite end of the opening – I think I forgot to do this!  Find the center of the apron across from the ties.

Lightly press a center line on the pocket. Pin to apron.

Topstitch on to apron.

Sew down center of the pocket.

And you are ready to bake!

SU235 Special Delivery Owl Card

Another idea from Pinterest!  Inside it says “because you are one of a kind”.  The card front was stamped with SU's Woodgrain stamp.  Sponged the edges of most everything with Early Espresso or Wild Wasabi.  I cut the More Mustard 4.5” high by 3.5” wide.  The small rectangles are cut at 2” high by 1.5” wide.  I made Faux Brads using this method.

Stamps – Priority Post, Punch Bunch, Woodgrain.

Card Stock - White, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake.

Ink - Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi.

Accessories - Owl Builder punch, 1/4" circle punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, unknown flower punch, sponge, mounts, rhinestones, Crystal Effects, Swiss Dots embossing folder, Modern Label punch, Bird Builder punch.

SU234 Graduation Owl Card

Another idea from Pinterest!  The card front was embossed with SU's Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Sponged the edges of most everything then pounced the script with black ink as well.  I cut the diamond part of the grad hat about 1.25” wide by 5/8” tall and used a 1 1/4" circle punch on a ½” wide strip of card stock to get the curved bottom portion of the hat.  To make the diploma I cut a 1 1/4" wide X 1" tall piece of typing paper and just rolled it up.  Adhere it together and tie a linen thread knot around it and glue in place.

Stamps - Teeny Tiny Wishes, En Francais.

Card Stock - Black, Cherry Cobbler, White.

Ink - Black, Cherry Cobbler.

Accessories - Black grosgrain ribbon, sponge, Owl Builder punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, Word Window punch, 4” linen thread, Petals a Plenty embossing folder, Label punch, plain paper, Bird Builder punch.

SU233 Happy Birthday Owl Card

This idea came from another card I seen on Pinterest.  I have used a Sahara Sand card base and then Pretty in Pink DSP. I used a Top Note die in White and cut it flush with the pink.  The flowers are the Trio Flower punch and I added a rhinestone in the middle of them, the leaves are from the Sizzlets Little Leaves die.  Finished the card off with some Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and a sentiment from the Bring on the Cake set.  I cut one end of the sentiment into a flag using this method.

Cardstock – Sahara Sand, Pretty in Pink, Pretty in Pink DSP, Early Espresso, Black, White, Old Olive.

Stamps – Bring on the Cake.

Embellishments – Woodgrain EF, Bigz Top Note Die, Owl Builder punch, Sizzlets Little Leaves Die, Trio Flower punch, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Rhinestones, Square punch, sponge.

Ink  – Early Espresso, Old Olive.

SU232 Happy Easter Owl Card

This year, baby owls are being hatched instead of chicks!  I used the egg from the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set and cut it apart.  This was a color combo suggestion from The Color Lab.  I used Wild Wasabi instead of their suggested Gumball Green as I didn’t have Gumball Green.

Stamps: Wagon Full of Fun, Wacky Wishes.

Paper: Daffodil Delight, Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White.

Ink: Daffodil Delight, Rose Red.

Accessories: Photo Corner Punch, mounts, Daffodil Delight marker, sponge, Owl Builder Punch, Swiss Dots EF, Sizzlets leaves.

SU231 Lucky Me Owl Card

My owl is ready for St Patrick’s Day this month.  I used the Decorative Label punch to make his hat, tapering it to fit his head.  Cute eh?  I also cut it in half to shadow the sentiment.  I saw this idea on Pinterest.

Card Stock - Black, White, Handsome Hunter, Garden Green, Green Galore, Patterns Pack 11 DSP.

Ink – Green Galore.

Accessories - sponge, Owl Builder punch, Coluzzle to cut a 2-1/2” circle, Decorative Label punch, scallop edge punch, white grosgrain ribbon.
