Milestone Birthday – 7 years old – B07c

Another great card I found on Pinterest!  Too cute not to copy!  The bubbles and the card front are Bermuda Bay. The card is Taken With Teal.  To make the background, I wrapped about 6 rubber bands around my brayer, inked with Bermuda Bay ink, and rolled.  Techniqueszone has a great tutorial for this technique.

The grass is stamped with Old Olive.  The fish is punched using the 1-3/8" Circle Punch in Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango.  The lips are punched using the Trio Flower punch and the fins are punched using the 5-Petal Punch.  The eye is a brad. I used the 1-1/4" Circle Punch at the top to make the waves.

Emerald blue and turquoise green

 a shimmering surface, silver screen

 broken by the sun's bright glare

 the fish beneath are unaware.

 Their bodies lined with shinning scales

 their fins are underwater sails,

 they twist between the golden beams,

 on unseen currents and hidden streams

 and form a school that twists and glides,

 a shape with many moving sides,

 a thousand silver darts as one

 lit up beneath the sea and sun.

Milestone Birthday – 7 year old – B07b

I love this Anniversary card by mariestamps!  So I changed it into a birthday card to go with my 7 year old fish themed cards. Love the idea of the leafed seaweed from the Two-Step Bird and snowflake Punch.  I used a toothbrush to splatter brown acrylic paint on to Crumb Cake cardstock.  One more fish card coming soon.

How I wish I were a fish!

My day would begin flapping my fins.

I'd make a commotion out in the ocean.

It would be cool to swim in a school.

In the sea, I'd move so free,

With just one thought: Don't get caught!

For my 7 year old cards, I decided to use fish as the theme.  So, we will start out with Nemo!  Isn’t he just the cutest!  I kinda followed Niki's’s layout.  She used a retired butterfly punch for his tail.  I don’t have that punch so I used the Bigz Beautiful Butterflies die for mine.  I also followed Simple and Sincere’s tutorial for making a fish hook from a paper clip.  I needed to use over half the paper clip for mine.  I balled up a piece of wax paper and pounced the card with Bashful Blue ink for the sky.  I used the ¾” x 15/16” oval punch to cut the waves at the top of the blue DSP.

You’re a little fish, you like to swim

We can't catch you, 'cause you have fins

When you swim past your friends, we hear them say

Stop your swimming and come and play!

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, Basic Gray, Bashful Blue.

Punches: 1/2” Circle, 1” Circle, 1-1/4” scallop Circle, Owl Builder, Bird Builder,  3/4”x15/16” Oval, Large Oval, 1/16” hole,  scallop oval,
