MDS 005 Furry Friends Scrapbook Page

This is an 8.5x11 portrait page.
Since you are now familiar with the Opacity/Blur button, we will do something for our Furry Friends. You can easily change my cat to a dog by using the ‘Man’s Best Friend’ stamp set. I want to show you how to use your punches for Text Boxes.

I am using Windows 7. You Mac or other Windows people may have some adjustments to make. All this info plus more can be found by clicking HELP (across the top of the program) > My Digital Studio Help.

Open our Practice Album that we created. Choose Insert (from the toolbar across the top) > Add Page from the menu > Blank Page > OK. If you just stumbled on my Blog, type ‘MDS Scrap Page 001, 002' etc in the Search Box (top left corner) to see what we have done.
Click on your Bleed area. View > Guides > Photo Page Bleed Area. Anything you put past the gray areas could get cut off during printing. I keep my photos inside this area but I don’t worry too much about the embellishments. If your page is too big or too small for your screen, click on the – (minus) or + (plus) button in the lower, right corner (Zoom area) to reduce or enlarge your page. Ok, off to work we go!
Page before adding Photo boxes.

I’m going to assume that you have now caught on to what is under the Resource Pallet (on the left side of the program) and the Design Center (on the right side of the program) so I am not going to type out every detail. In case you didn’t know, I am a one finger typer so it takes me forever to type!
Background Papers > Designer Series Paper > Designer Kits > Elegant Soiree > Pattern 10

Not too sure if you can see the stitching running vertically on the right hand side of my paper but it is there. Embellishment icon > Browse > Staple and Stitching > Open. Drag the Chocolate Chip stitching on to your page three times. Rotate two of them slightly.

Embellishment icon > Browse > Grosgrain Ribbon > Open > Drag the Old Olive ribbon on to your page, resize wider by stretching center gray box
Embellishment icon > Staple and Stitching > Open. Drag the Chocolate Chip zigzag on top of the ribbon.

Photos (right side) > click on Photo Box once. Resize to what you want. Mat > move slider to size 20 > Change > Baja Breeze. Add another Photo box, repeat as above but change the color to Blushing Bride. Add more Photo boxes. Mat one in Baja Breeze and the other in Chocolate Chip – move slider to size 4. Don’t forget to use the Arrange > Order to Bring to Front or Send to Back when needed. Arrange your photo boxes on your page.
Punch icon > Drag the Photo Corner Punch onto your page > Color Fill > Chocolate Chip. Right click on it > Copy > right click Paste on a blank spot of your page for a total of 2 corners. Click on one of them and Rotate 90* Right two times. Embellishment icon > Browse > Staple and Stitching > Open. Drag the Staple on to each corner and Rotate to fit your photo corners. Draw a box around each photo corner Arrange > Group. I can now move my photo corners around and the staple will stay in place. Copy and Paste each photo corner so you have two more > Color Fill > Baja Breeze. Arrange on the two large mats. Zoom in to help you see the placement (bottom, right side).
Punch icon > Drag the Curly Label onto your page. Resize. Color Fill > White > Mat to size 4 > Always Artichoke > Arrange > Order > Send to Back to fit behind the top photo box.
Punch icon > Drag the Oval Punch onto your page. Resize. Color Fill > White > Mat to size 4 > Always Artichoke > Arrange > Order > Send to Back to fit behind the middle photo box.
Punch icon > Drag the Modern Label onto your page. Resize. Color Fill > White > Mat to size 4 > Baja Breeze. This is an additional Text Box for the bottom of the page.

Embellishment icon > Browse > Brads > Open > Drag eight Always Artichoke brads on to your page. Place two on the Modern Label punch at the bottom of your page. Zoom in to help you see the placement. Put three on one of the wide mats. Hold down your shift key and click on each brad to highlight them Align (on the toolbar) > Middle. Repeat for the last three brads on the other wide mat.

Stamp icon > Browse > Cute Cats > Open > Drag the cat sleeps stamp on to your page. Enlarge it by grabbing a corner of one of the gray handles (small boxes) around the edges with your mouse. While it is highlighted, click on Mirror (right side) > Change Color (on right side) > Chocolate Chip > OK. Drag the fish and mouse over. Mirror and change colors accordingly.
Stamp icon > Browse > Razzle Dazzle > Open > Drag the dream stamp on to your page. Enlarge it by grabbing a corner of one of the gray handles (small boxes) around the edges with your mouse. While it is highlighted, click on Change Color (on right side) > Chocolate Chip > OK.

To add text to a page, click the Add Text icon on the toolbar.
Type your text in the text box. To change style elements after typing the text, highlight the portion of the text to change (any portion may be selected and changed independently of the rest of the text) and make the desired changes using the Text section of the Design Center.
I like to Drop Shadow everything! You will have to Ungroup everything you have Grouped in order for it to Shadow. Click on the item – Arrange – Ungroup. Click on one Embellishment – Drop Shadow – Opacity to 65, Blur to Medium - Save as Default – on this page. Now all my Embellishments will be Shadowed. Click on one Stamp image – Drop Shadow. Since the Opacity and Blur are set, click ‘on this page’. Now all my stamped images will be Shadowed. Repeat for one Text, one photo and one punch and click ‘on this page’. You can certainly Drop Shadow each item as you go but I tend to do it at the end.
Duplicate this page. Insert > Insert Duplicate Page Mirrored, change a few stamps and make a page for your dog if you have one or just bump it forward for another layout.

My Digital Studio Catalog PDF catalog will be updated every month and is available to you on MyDigitalStudio.net (you will want to sign up to this site) under Resources.

Watch for a NEW Scrap Page posted every Friday.
