SU217 Joy

 

I had read that Sylvia’s Christmas Card Challenge theme for March was Monochromatic.  It was a couple days before I could get working on my cards due to life interruptions.  Finally got going and I sure must have been in my own little world as this is what I came up with (above).  After I finished four of them, I thought what the heck are you doing??!!  This isn’t very Monochromatic!  Anyways, just changed it a bit and still ended up stamping ‘Joy’ with burgundy!

 

Stamp Sets: Welcome Christmas, Small Script.

Cardstock: Always Artichoke, DSP from Costco.

 

Ink: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy.

 

Accessories: sponge, coluzzle, Always Artichoke grosgrain ribbon.

Total Christmas Cards for 2011:

January = 1, February = 6, March = 5.

SU027, SU028, Wax Paper Resist

Wax Paper Resist - Take a piece of Wax Paper slightly larger than your glossy cardstock. Crumle it up and then smooth it back out. Criumle it up again and smooth it out again. The more times you do this, the finer the resist will be. Usually a couple of crumples is good tho.

Sandwich your wax paper between two pieces of Glossy Cardstock, with the glossy sides facing the wax paper, both top and bottom. Using two pieces of cardstock yields two backgrounds in one step. If you're going to drag out the iron, you might as well make a few sheets of this at a time.

Iron over your paper "sandwich" with a fairly hot iron without steam.

Take pieces apart and throw wax paper away. If you want to make two more sheets, repeat as above with a new sheet of wax paper.Brayer over your glossy cardstock with Dye Ink. Cover the entire piece of cardstock.

Wipe over your cardstock with a paper towel. The ink will resist where the wax from the wax paper stuck to the glossy cardstock.

Stamp Set - Noble Deer, Small Script

Cardstock - Mellow Moss, White, Kraft

Inks - Mellow Moss, Close to Cocoa

Accessories - wax paper, 1/8" punch, iron, chocolate grosgrain, brayer

Stamp Sets - Festive Favorites, Small Script

Inks - Real Red, Old Olive

Cardstock - Glossy, Old Olive, Real Red

Accessories - wax paper, 1/16 punch, iron, red grosgrain, 2 way tape, brayer, mount, silver cord, Pixie Pink Marker, Certainly Celery Marker
