MDS 047 Winter Scrapbook Page

Page before adding Photo boxes.
My Digital Studio Software by Stampin' Up!.
Thought this was a neat Winter Wonderland page by Nicole so thought I’d put my own spin on it.  Whenever I enlarge a circle this big, it always ends up with flat sides.  It doesn't matter in this case as I will be covering the flatness with my photo's and we won't see the other three sides.

Paper: Candy Cane Lane 4 (background).

Embellishments: Christmas Cocoa 11 – elements – circles; Button Latte (White); Hoppy Memories – labels 5 and 8; Summer Home – label 11.

Punches: Circle - Candy Cane Lane 1; Large Photo corner (Real Red).
This is a 12x12 page.
I do not claim to be any type of photographer.  I have a plain and simple camera and I love to take pictures!  If you have just stumbled on my Blog, type ‘MDS Scrap Page’ in the Search Box (top left corner) to see what we have been doing.  I am using Windows 7 so you may need to click on HELP (across the top of the MDS program), My Digital Studio Help if you are using a different Windows than me.   Watch for NEW Scrap Pages posted every Friday.

SU208 Faux Polished Stone Technique

Stamps: Simply Said.

Cardstock: Black, Bashful Blue, White, White Glossy.

Ink: Black.

Re-inkers: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Silver Colorbox.

Accessories: cotton ball, rubbing alcohol. White gel pen, Birds and Swirls embossing folder, navy grosgrain ribbon, heart to heart X-Large punch.

To make Faux Polished Stone:

Dampen your cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. I purchased this from our local Drug Store.

Add a drop of Bashful Blue, Night of Navy and Silver Colorbox to the dampened cotton ball.

Dab the cotton ball over glossy cardstock.

You can dab lots or little – just continue dabbing and blending until you achieve the look you want.

The rubbing alcohol will cause the re-inkers to blend together and essentially the paper is ‘resisting’ the ink you put on it.  The Silver Colorbox give a nice metallic sheen to the card.

Set aside for the ink to dry before continuing.

MDS 044 Ready, Set, Snow Scrapbook Page

Page before adding Photo boxes.
My Digital Studio Software by Stampin' Up!.

This page by inspired by Jessica’s page.  Just follow her instructions to make the hill with the heart punch.

Paper: Textured Bashful Blue (background).

Stamp Brush Sets: Torn Edges – hand torn (White) – drop shadow to 50 Blur to medium and change color to Not Quite Navy; Extreme Snowboard (Night of Navy); Season of Cheer – middle snowflake (White); Best Wishes and more – ready, set, snow (Not Quite Navy); Calendar Basic Bits – snowflake (White); Vintage Overlay – 1st one (White).

Punches: Full Heart – (Not Quite Navy) I kept resizing until it made a hill.  I even stretched it using the buttons that we’re not suppose to touch.  Copy and paste to make another heart – color fill – white – move it so you have a small border of navy showing – change Opacity to 60, Square – White (used this to make my snow drift at the bottom of my page wider).

SU225 Angry Birds Card

My 4 year old grandson was full of excitement as he showed me this Angry Bird game some time ago.  Kinda thought it was a bit silly but whatever.  I found out just how  serious a game this was after spending the Christmas weekend with our adult kids.  So I did a search for possible cards made using these creatures and found out I’m about a year behind!  Found these nuggets by nox2stamp off Splitcoast  easier to follow as it is mainly done using punches.  I also liked dlsplu’s layout from Splitcoast so I used her idea.  I know nothing about the game, I’m assuming these ladies do.  I have a 30 year old SIL who is nuts about the game so this card is for his birthday in March.

I went through my scraps to make these so I am only guessing at the colors of cardstock that I used.

Angry Bird parts:

Used the 1/8” companion circle Coluzzle or about 1-5/8” to cut his body from Real Red, sponged black.

Angry Bird parts
Chest – SU 1-3/8” circle punch in white, sponged red.  Once I glued this in position and cut off what I didn’t need, I sponged the bottom in black.

Eyes – SU 1/2” circle punch in white, sponged black.  Dots were done using my black Zig marker.

Eyebrows or is that a Frown?? – SU horizontal punch in black.

Beak – star punch by EK Success in More Mustard, sponged Chocolate Chip.

Feathers – SU 5-petal flower punch in Real Red, sponged black.

I added mounts to the back of him so he is raised.

Pig parts:

Body – SU 1-3/8” circle punch in Old Olive, sponged black.

Pig parts
Snout – large eye from the SU owl punch in Green Galore, sponged Garden Green.  Put a mount behind so it is raised.

Eyes – small eye from the SU owl punch in white, sponged Garden Green.

Eyelids – small eye from the SU owl punch cut in half in Old Olive, sponged black.

Ears - SU 1/2” circle punch in Old Olive, sponged black.

Used my black Zig marker for the markings.

Cage parts (if that’s what it is):

Cut gray cardstock 2” x 2-1/4”, cut inside away to leave a 3/8” frame, sponged black.  Used the Creative Memories corner rounder in the top, left corner.

Grass:

Sizziz die in Garden Green, sponged black.  I had to cut 2 of them to fit across the card.

Sling Shot:

Creamy Caramel stamped with SU! Woodgrain stamp set in Chocolate Chip.  SU Word Window punch, sponged with Chocolate Chip.  1/16” hole punch, brad, 8” hemp.  Once I tied my knots, I cut off what I didn’t need.  A neat trick I learned in my sewing days – to put yarn or thread or, in this case hemp through a small hole, add a dab of glue to one end.  Work it in with your fingers to make a narrow point.  Once it dries, it is easy to thread through.

Background:

SU Canvas stamp set in Real Red.  Mount to a black card.

Phrase:

SU Smarty Pants stamp set in Garden Green.  SU Decorative Label punch, sponged black.
