Celebrate with Balloon Adventures - One Hour Card Class 058 - OHCC058

Stamps - Balloon Adventures, Work of Art, Just for You, Time of Year (Hostess 2016/17).

Ink - Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight.

Paper - Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight.

Tools - Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits,  Big Shot, Tombow glue, Dimensionals, SNAIL, Celebrations Duo embossing folder (Occasions 2017), sequins, Bunch of Banners Framelits, Misti.

Spritz the card stock lightly before embossing to keep it from having little tears or creases. 

Place the left edge of the cardstock on the 1” mark of the Misti and tight to the bottom.  Center the small smear stamp image from the Work of Art stamp set over the b and r.  Have the bottom of the stamp at about the 3” line on the Misti.  Stamp with Daffodil Delight ink.  Press firmly enough to get a solid connection, but not with too much pressure.  Let the stamp set on the paper a few seconds so the ink transfers fully.  Too much pressure will allow the image to accidentally stamp inside the letters. 

Move the left edge of the cardstock to the 2-1/2” mark on the Misti.  Re-ink with Daffodil Delight ink and stamp again. 

Place the right edge of the cardstock to the 3-1/2” mark on the Misti.  Re-ink with Daffodil Delight ink and stamp again. 

Move the right edge of the cardstock to the 4-1/8” mark on the Misti.  Clean the stamp without moving it. Stamp with Bermuda Bay ink.

Place the left edge of the cardstock to the 1-3/4” mark on the Misti.  Re-ink with Bermuda Bay ink and stamp again.

Stamp the phrase, add the dies, bow and sequins to the card front.

Fold a piece of writing tablet paper in half for the inside of the card.  Stamp a phrase.

Decorate an envelope with balloon images.

Another find on Pinterest so I had to give it a try!

Pool Party card.  Over stamp the top of the card with the pine branch from the Christmas Pines stamp set using Pool Party ink. Flick the gold Wink of Stella on the card – I just hit the marker against the side of my hand, then touched the marker to my card in a few places.  Set aside.

Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 2-1/4” x 3-3/4”.  Pounce lightly with Pool Party ink using a shaving brush or sponge. 

Set one large, one small and the tip of the medium pine leaf dies from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies on top.  I have such troubles removing the dies from my medium leaf so I cut a large one then trimmed it to the length of the medium one.  Cut a gold Foil Sheet 2-1/4” square and lay the mistletoe die from the same die set on top.

Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 1-1/4” x 3-1/2”.  Stamp a phrase from the Time of Year Stamp Set using Versamark ink.  Gold emboss over a coffee filter – this makes clean up of the embossing powder easy!  Lay the banner from Bunch of Banners Framelits on top. 

Move to the Big Shot and die cut all the above at the same time.  Sandwich is: Magnetic platform – cutting pad - cardstock – wax paper - die with cutting blade down – cutting pad.

Working on the Silicone Craft Sheet, add some Tombow glue to the back of the phrase and adhere the leaves.  Tuck in the mistletoe. 

 Add Dimensionals to both ends of the banner. 

By partially folding the banner, the center is between the letter ‘s’ and ‘t’.  Lay banner on the card with edge towards the right.  Pencil mark the center for lace placement.  Set aside. 

Cut Venetian Crochet Trim 9” – this is what I had but the Very Vanilla ½” Lace Trim, page 179 would work too.  Fold lace in half.  Tape both ends to your work surface.  Wrap a piece of thread around lace about 1” from the fold.  Tie into a tight knot.  Do not cut the thread tails off yet. 

Cut Gold Cord 12”.  Tie into a knot around the thread then into a bow, leaving your thread tails at the bottom of the bow. 

Use the threads to add a charm – my Pinterest lady used two Mini Pinecones (page 20 Holiday 2016/17 catalogue) but I didn’t have them.  Trim thread. 

Use a glue dot to adhere to the card front about ½” from the top.  Use the pencil mark for positioning.  You can partially straighten the tails of your bow by using the bone folder but hang securely on to the knot of the bow while doing this – it may not straighten them completely but it helps. 

Add banner under the charm.  Press ends of banner upwards with your fingers. Spread the lace apart, trim if necessary and tack ends down with Tombow glue.  You may want to glue dot your charm too.  Add gold sequins/stars from the Metallics Sequin Assortment with the Tombow glue – I used what I had on hand.  Use the Paper Piercing Tool as your third hand! 

Once I am done fiddling with everything, I add a little puddle of Tombow glue to the knot of my bow hoping that helps it from coming undone. 

Remember the writing tablet?  Perfect for the inside of cards.  Fold a piece in half. Stamp a phrase and the pine branch from the Christmas Pines stamp set using Pool Party ink.  Adhere to inside of the card.

Using Tissue Paper and Freezer Paper to make an Envelope

Turn iron on a medium-high setting. 

Cut the freezer paper 8” square.  Cut the piece of tissue paper 10” square.

Crumple the tissue paper, open and crumple again to add texture.

Carefully smooth out the tissue paper but don’t remove all the wrinkles.

Lay papers on your ironing board with the freezer paper on the bottom (wax side up) and the tissue paper on top (pretty side up).

Put your iron in one place for a few seconds, lift it up, don’t slide it, and put it down again somewhere else so as not to smooth out the wrinkles.  Overlap your pressings.

Turn paper over and press again.

Cut excess tissue paper off flush with the freezer paper. 

Turn your paper over (tissue paper side down) and iron it again.  Turn it over again (tissue side up) and iron again. 

Complete using the Envelope Punch Board.  

Flick the front with the gold Wink of Stella.

Stamps: Holly Berry Happiness (Holiday 2016), Time of Year (Hostess 2016/17).

Ink: Versamark, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler.

Cardstock: 5” x 8” writing tablet paper for inside of card or cut computer paper to this size, Merry Moments DSP (Holiday 2015), Cherry Cobbler, White, Mossy Meadow, Christmas wrapping paper (for envelope).

Accessories: envelope punch board, Stampin’ Trimmer, scissors, bone folder, pencil, Dimensionals, silicone craft sheet, paper piercer, Snail Adhesive, Tombow glue, Gold Baker’s Twine (2016 Holiday mini), Festive Stitching Thinlits dies (2016 Holiday mini), needle, needle threader, gold EP, Stars Framelits, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Burlap fabric, embossing buddy.

Punches: Holly Berry Builder (Holiday 2016), ¼” circle, Duet Banner.

Prepare card by cutting Cherry Cobbler cardstock at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”.  Fold in half for a side fold card – a bone folder gives you a crisp fold.  Stamp and sign the back.  Set aside.

Do you remember these writing tablets?  You could buy them ruled or unruled which I like for cards.  They are the perfect size but hard to find – in the places I have looked.  Fold a sheet in half.  Stamp the phrase in Cherry Cobbler. Stamp other images if desired.  Adhere to the inside of the card with a touch of snail next to the left side of the fold. 

Cut a panel at 5-1/4” x 4” from the DSP for the outside of the card.  Adhere to the card front.  Set aside.

Cut burlap fabric about 1-1/2” wide by 3-1/2” long.  Adhere to card front about 1-1/4” from top of the card.  Set aside.

Gold emboss the banner on white cardstock.  Punch.  Stamp the phrase in Cherry Cobbler.  Punch another banner from Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Adhere the two banners together with the green peeking out the top.  Set aside. 

Stamp and punch two holly leaves in Mossy Meadow ink on Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Set aside.

Punch three ¼” circles from a scrap of DSP.  Set aside.

Pierce the holes in the middle of a 3-1/2” square Cherry Cobbler cardstock using the star from the Festive Stitching Thinlits.  Magnetic platform – cutting pad – cardstock – die with cutting blade down – cutting pad.  Re-poke the holes with your needle to make sure each one is open.  Save the negative piece to use in the inside of the card.

Lay the Star Framelits on top of the holes.  Tape and cut.  Magnetic platform – cutting pad – cardstock – die with cutting blade down – cutting pad.

How to stitch or embroider on card stock:

Cut twine at 25”.  Tie a knot in one end.  I am using an embroidery needle however the hole isn’t big enough on it to use the needle threader and my twine has all split.  

To fix this, I simply added a touch of glue to the ends of the twine.  

Twirled them in my fingers to make one strand.  I could thread the needle with no problem. 

I am going to start out using what I know as the back stitch but for every valley, I ended up having to do a forward stitch otherwise the twine shows on the outside of the star.  So this may be a little confusing, but very simple once you get the hang of it. I numbered the holes and am using an ordinary needle and thread for this sample.  On my card, I die cut the star before stitching of course.

Bring your needle back-to-front through the second hole. 

Tape down the tail on the back.  Then stitch backward, putting your needle through the first hole.

Skip the second hole and bring your needle through the third hole. 

Again, stitch backwards from the third hole to the second hole. 

Come up the fourth hole and backstitch thro the 3^rd hole. 

Up the 5^th hole and backstitch thro the 4th hole.

Now you must come up the 5^th hole again and forward stitch to the 6^th hole. 

Up the 7^th hole and backstitch thro the 6th hole.  Up the 8^th hole and backstitch thro the 7th hole.

Up the 9^th hole and backstitch thro the 8th hole.  Back up the 9^th hole and forward stitch to the 10^th hole.

Up the 11^th hole and backstitch thro the 10th hole.  Up the 12^th hole and backstitch thro the 11th hole.

Up the 13^th hole and backstitch thro the 12th hole.  Back up the 13^th hole and forward stitch to the 14^th hole.

Up the 15^th hole and backstitch thro the 14th hole.  Up the 16^th hole and backstitch thro the 15th hole.

Up the 17^th hole and backstitch thro the 16th hole.  Back up the 17^th hole and forward stitch to the 18^th hole.

Up the 19^th hole and backstitch thro the 18th hole.  Up the 20^th hole and backstitch thro the 19th hole.

Up the 1st hole and backstitch thro the 20th hole.

This is the completed front.

And this is what the back looks like.  

NOTE:  If your needle will handle the twine, here is how you use it with the needle threader:

Place the folded wire of the needle threader through the eye of the sewing needle.

Place the thread into the wire loop of the needle threader.

Holding on to the wire of the needle threader and the needle, pull the wire part back through the eye of the needle, stopping when you have one thread in the eye of the needle. Remove the thread from the wire part of the needle threader.

Add glue across the middle of the star and adhere the burlap on the card front.  

Add the banner then the leaves and berries.  

Cover the berries with glitter glue. 

Use a shaving brush or sponge with Mossy Meadow ink to lightly stipple a star over the inside phrase.

Make an envelope from Christmas wrapping paper using the envelope punch board. 6456
