SU169 Brayered Debossing

I had never heard of the Brayered Debossing Technique so I had to give it a try.

Use a wet cloth and pat a fair bit of water to the smooth side of the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die - too much water will make the ink run into the grooves and not enough water will do nothing so experiment. Brayer Cameo Coral ink over the wet surface.

Put glossy cardstock in the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die and run thro the Cuttlebug.

I sprayed the rose with a glitter spray that I had in my stash, before trimming. Cut from the opposite side as you have the embossed edges to guide you.

Stamp Set - Birthday Wish.

Ink - Cameo Coral.

Paper - Cameo Coral, White Glossy.

Accessories - wide oval punch, Glitter spray (non SU!), Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die,1/4" circle punch and Crystal Effects to make Faux Brads.

SU167 Brayering the Manhattan Flower

Seen this idea on Patty's blog. She used Shimmery White Cardstock, I didn't have any. She did a 'hit and miss' with her brayer. That didn't look so good on the plain white cs so I completely covered my piece with each color without rolling it off onto a scrap paper as Patty did. I just didn't use my brayer forcefully as I wanted the under color to show through. 
 

Embossed the Manhattan Flower die onto White cardstock. Turned the finished image over so the raised portion was facing DOWN onto my table. Inked my brayer in Apricot Appeal and rolled onto "debossed" (flat) side of the rose image. Lightly covered the image entirely with color. Repeated with Pink Passion. Sprayed with glitter.

I found it easier to turn the rose over and cut the image following the raised edges. Originally, I had shaded the bird in pink passion but because of mixing the 2 colors together on the rose, the pink passion had changed color so I used Apricot Appeal to shade the bird instead.

SU165 Thinking of You

The background was done with the Watercolor Joy wheel, pg 205 & Black Memories ink. The rose impression was done using the Manhattan Flower Die, pg 202 and my Cuttlebug. My white Colorbox Pigment inkpad was slightly on the dry side so it worked great to swipe over the embossed image with gentle pressure. Of course, I used a little glitter spray before I snipped it out.

SU164 Manhattan Flower

This time, I used the polka dot side of the Apricot Appeal from the Prints Pack (double sided paper) similar to the pack on pg 18 of the 2009 Spring/Summer catalogue. I ran the paper thro the Manhattan flower folder, pg 202, then sanded the raised parts with the sanding blocks on pg 189.
I used the reverse side of the polka dot paper at the bottom of the rose & covered the join with ribbon.
Not sure if the scan shows it very good. I love doing the Faux brads - 1/4" circle punch then add Crystal Effects.
I checked with the Color Coach pg 153, to help me decide what color my card & 'brads' could be. I am no good at putting colors together so thank goodness for the Coach!

Although the scan doesn't show it, I sprayed the rose with a glitter spray that I had in my stash, before trimming.

Stamp Set - Oval All, pg 8 in the Occasions Mini catalogue,  Sanded.
Ink - Regal Rose, Certainly Celery.
Paper - Certainly Celery, White.
Accessories - Large oval punch, Scalloped oval punch, Word Window punch, 1/4" circle punch, Crystal Effects, Glitter spray (non SU!), Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die.

I have been having lots of fun using this Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die found on pg 202 of the SU! Spring/Summer 2009 catalogue. I tried using regular vellum but it embosses so deeply that it just cuts right thro it. You will need to use the vellum cardstock sold on pg 156 and the Big Shot die machine on pg 193.
I used the So Swirly jumbo wheel pg 204 for the background with Apricot Appeal ink and cardstock, both on pg 154. The phrase is from the Oval All stamp set and I used the oval scallop punch to punch it out. These are both on pg 8 of the Occasions Mini Catalogue.
