MDS - Magazine Cover Challenge, Heather’s Class2

Once again, it is TUESDAY!!  You know what that means!!  DOWNLOAD DAY!!  Yippee Yahoo!  Check them out!
One of Heather’s favorite features in Scrapbooks Etc. is seeing the cover options that are created - they usually have four pages that all have the same photo and one ends up on the cover, while the other three are showcased in the front of the magazine. She thought we could try something similar so she included a 3 generations photo of her family and challenged us to create a page. This wasn’t a contest, simply a fun way to see how everyone used the photo.

It was an honor to work with a picture of such distinguished ladies!  Not sure my page would make the cover of any magazine but I enjoyed the challenge!  I started out using a sketch by Alesha Walls.
Paper: Tempting Turquoise opacity 80%.

Stamps: Notes and Details, Decorative Overlays.

Embellishments: Brads, Get it Done.

Punches: Square, Timeless Types Junior Numbers, Curly Label, Flag, Eyelet border, Butterfly Shape 1 and 2.

Font: Simply Glamorous.

I tried to remember all the ‘techniques’ I used on this page that I’ve learned from Heather in these two classes.

Zooming in on a picture – didn’t know that button existed!

Center vertically/horizontally on a page – what a time saver!

Making a double label punch with ease.

Using the Change Object layer button – this is such a great function.  Mine doesn’t always work but when it does, it is awesome!

Zooming in on a page – I never used this function very much, don’t know why.  I sure do now tho!

Changing the color of a drop shadow – so neat!

Grouping to resize all in one step!

ScrapSketch55 - for the long weekend!
Alesha's Sketch
I realize that Heather didn’t invent all these fantastic functions in MDS but she is responsible for bringing them to my attention and for that, I would really like to thank her!  The classes were so worth it!

MDS - A Moment in my Tummy, Heather’s Class2

Happy Download Tuesday!  Check them out on My DigitalStudio.net!
Heather showed us how she puts a page together using a sketch.  Totally up my alley as I ALWAYS need something to kick start me.  Sometimes my page doesn’t look anything like the sketch I started out with but I ALWAYS need a starter kit!  I really envy people that can just put a page together like Heather!
Paper: Textured Soft Suede, Grad Party, Christmas Cocoa 11.

Stamps: Oh Splat, Timeless, Hello Doily, Hawaii Papaya, Nursery Necessities, Holiday Blitz.

Embellishments: Downtown Grunge, Mis-Stitched.

Punches: Square, Flag, Scallop Edge.

Font: Simply Glamorous.

MDS - Poolin Around, Heather’s Class2

Once again, it is TUESDAY!!  You know what that means!!  DOWNLOAD DAY!!  Yippee Yahoo!I felt like I was back in my counted cross stitch days after doing this class of Heather’s!!  Unfortunately, my eyes don’t work like they did back then!  Woozers!  That was a lot of paying attention!    I can see now that I should have centered my punches before adding my picture but I am not about to undo anything!  We had to fill our page with the square punch then change each square using the Swatches from the Color Palette!  I made a duplicate page of my color filled punches in case I ever have the urge to do this again!  This is a great technique, Heather, thanks for sharing!
Embellishment: Downtown Grunge.

Font: CK Psychedelic size 96.

Happy Tuesday to you!  Do you know what that means?  Digital Download day!  Whooo hooo!  Head on over to My Digital Studio.net to see what's new today! In today’s class, Heather showed us how she makes cards in MDS.  This is a lot easier than the way I have done them.   Heather built the layer, saved it as a jpeg and then brought it back in as a photo box. Makes it so easy to overlap on the edges!  Great hint, thanks Heather!

MDS - New Year's Day 2010, Heather’s Class2

Once again, it is TUESDAY!!  You know what that means!!  DOWNLOAD DAY!!  Yippee Yahoo!

In this class, Heather reminded us to use the templates in MDS to make a quick page.  It is easy enough to import a premade template into your album.  You can always add or delete from the template.  For this page, I went through the templates to find a page that had 6 photo boxes.  Again, you can always add more photo boxes to the templates if you want but I wanted something that was done for me.  I chose a page from the A Year in Review template, changed the flowers to fireworks from Canada Day, changed the ribbon to Real Red and POOF, I had a page done in about 10 minutes!  So, yes, do remember those templates!  They make life very easy! Happy Download Tuesday!  Check them out on My DigitalStudio.net!

On Day 2, Heather showed us how to make a Blog Header.   Don't have a clue as how to put it on my Blog but it was fun to create!  Actually, I think I am too chicken to try something on the computer as one thing I have learnt, is the computer is waaaaay smarter than me!  It likes things done its way, not mine!
Paper: Crushed Curry Soft Flower; Whisper Whites Patterns 4.
Punch: Lots of Tags Shape 1; Square; Fun Flowers 1, 2, 3, 4 drop shadowed with Riding Hood Red.
Stamps: School Days 11 scissors; Canada Day Maple Leaf; Autumn Elements Old Olive; Mistyped alphabet.
