MDS 008 Spring Scrapbook Page

This is an 8.5x11 portrait page.
I used a stamp for a photo frame on this page. Everything I used on this page comes with MDS. If you have just stumbled on my Blog, type ‘MDS Scrap Page’ in the Search Box (top left corner) to see what we have been doing. I have a few Guides listed at the bottom of this post but click on HELP (across the top of the program) > My Digital Studio Help for further help. I am using Windows 7. Watch for NEW Scrap Pages posted every Friday.

Background Papers > Designer Series Paper > Brocade > Old Olive Brocade > OK.
Background Papers > Designer Series Paper > Small Polka Dot > Chocolate Chip > click on Add as Page Layer. Double click the box that opened. Drag across the whole page, about 2” wide > OK. Move it to about 1/2” from the bottom of your page. Click off.
Background Papers > Designer Series Paper > Dotted Stripe > Not Quite Navy > click on Add as Page Layer. Double click the box that opened. Drag across the whole page, about 1” wide > OK. Drag to the top of the dots. Click off.

Page before adding Photo boxes.
Background Papers > Designer Series Paper > Stripe > More Mustard > click on Add as Page Layer. Double click the box that opened. This time, drag across the whole length of the page, about 1” wide > OK. While highlighted, click on Rotate 90* Right (on the right side) – you may have to shorten the length first. Right click on the stripe > Copy > right click Paste on a blank spot of your page. Move one stripe a half inch from the top of your page and the other one to the top of the navy stripe.
Embellishment icon > Browse > Grosgrain Ribbon > Open > Drag the Old Olive ribbon on to your page, just above the Chocolate Chip Dots. Drag the Not Quite Navy ribbon just below the top More Mustard stripe.
Stamp icon > Browse > Frames with a Flourish > Open > Drag the circle stamp on to your page. Enlarge it by grabbing a corner of one of the gray handles (small boxes) around the edges with your mouse. While it is highlighted, click on Change Color (on right side) > Chocolate Chip > OK.
Stamp icon > Browse > Petal Pizzazz > Open > Drag flower 3 on to your page, click on Change Color (on right side) > Night of Navy > OK. Set it aside. Drag flower 1 on to your page, click on Change Color (on right side) > Not Quite Navy > OK. Set on the center of the large flower – use the Zoom button (bottom right) to help you better see what you are doing. Once you are happy with the layer, draw a box around it > Arrange > Group. Now they won’t come apart. Drag to the bottom, right corner of your page. Drag flower 6 on to your page. Click on Change Color (on right side) > Not Quite Navy > OK. Right click on it > Copy > right click Paste on a blank spot of your page about 3 times. Set aside.
Embellishment icon > Browse > Round Buttons > Open > Drag the More Mustard button on to your page > Browse > Button Latte > Open > Drag and center the flower button on top of the More Mustard button. Zoom in for easier seeing. Once you are happy with the layer, draw a box around it > Arrange > Group. Now they won’t come apart. Right click on it > Copy > right click Paste on a blank spot of your page for a total of 7 buttons. Set a button on each flower and 3 around the circle stamp.
Once your photos are in place, arrange your flowers. Under Arrange > Order, you can Bring to Front or Send to Back, if you want your flowers in front or behind your photos.
I like to Drop Shadow everything! You will have to Ungroup everything you have Grouped in order for it to Shadow. Click on the item – Arrange – Ungroup. Click on one Embellishment – Drop Shadow – Opacity to 65, Blur to Medium - Save as Default – on this page. Now all my Embellishments will be Shadowed. Click on one Stamp image – Drop Shadow. Since the Opacity and Blur are set, click ‘on this page’. Now all my stamped images will be Shadowed. Repeat for one Text, one photo and one punch and click ‘on this page’. You can certainly Drop Shadow each item as you go but I tend to do it at the end.

Insert > Insert Duplicate Page Mirrored to easily make a double page spread or just bump it forward for another layout. Again, watch for a NEW Scrap Page posted next Friday.

My Digital Studio Catalog PDF catalog will be updated every month and is available to you on MyDigitalStudio.net under Resources. If you have not ordered your copy of My Digital Studio yet or if you would like to order anything from the catalogue, just click on the On Line Ordering button in my left sidebar and your order will be mailed directly to you! Downloads will go to your computer automatically.
A few Guides:
View > Guides > Photo Page Bleed Area – you want this turned on.

Ruler – make sure Ruler is check marked under View as you want this turned on too.

Arrange – Order button to bring to front, send to back etc.

Nudge – click an item, then use your arrow keys to nudge in the direction of the arrow. Clicking on the corners of the icon will nudge the photo diagonally.

Change your margins in every album you create. File > Print set up > change all margins to 0. It will adjust automatically to the minimum size.

Photo Shape - Click on the Photo Box once (on the right). To turn your Photo from a square/rectangle to a circle/oval, click Photo Shape. After changing the photo shape, if you would like to modify the shape without affecting the photo, click Crop (instead of using the gray boxes on the sides and corners of the photo).

If your page is too big or too small for your screen, click on the – (minus) or + (plus) button in the lower, right corner (Zoom area) to reduce or enlarge your page. Ok, off to work we go!
