Merry with a Paper Button - One Hour Card Class 037 OHCC037

If you have never made a card before, you will love these One Hour Card Class workshops!  We will complete a card with a matching envelope – ready for the mail!  I host card classes every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  You pick the day and the time that suits you.  Message or email me for more info. I hope you will consider joining me as we learn how to get the very best from the products that we buy.  You can order SU! products online and have them shipped directly to your door. Simply click on the “Shop Now” button in my banner (or I can order for you). I would be most happy to be your Canadian demonstrator.

We will make the paper button first so it can have a chance to dry while we work on the card.

Die cut 4 buttons from 1” wide True Thyme cardstock using the Buttons #5 Sizzlits Dies (2011/12).  Sandwich is: Standard platform – cutting pad – cardstock in the sizziz folder - cutting pad.

Glue them together using a Glue Stick.  If you want your button thicker, add more layers.

If it is a little rough around the edges, sand with your sanding block.

Using tweezers to help hold the button on parchment paper, cover the top and sides of the button with Crystal Effects - if you clog the holes, open them back up with your Paper Piercing Tool.  Be sure to clean your tweezers when done.  Crystal Effects is a liquid that when dry, it gives it a raised glossy sheen.  NOTE: you can also make your own paper buttons by punching circles, use your Paper Piercer to make the button holes in your button then following the above directions.  Set aside to dry.

Cranberry Crisp card.  Sign the back.

True Thyme panel 5-1/4” x 4”.  Run through the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  Sandwich is: Standard platform – cutting pad – cardstock in the folder - cutting pad.  Set aside.

Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 2” x 4”.  Create Faux stitching along the long edges using Paper Piercing Pack Essentials template, Paper Piercing Tool and the Stampin’ Pierce Mat.  Join the stiches with the fine tip end of the Soft Suede marker as I don’t have a True Thyme marker.  NOTE: you could use a threaded sewing machine instead.  Adhere to panel about 5/8” from top, leaving bottom unglued.  Adhere to card front.

Cut three pieces 1” x 1-3/4” from True Thyme DSP.  Die cut one end of each piece using the banner from the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits set.  Sandwich is: Magnetic platform – cutting pad - cardstock - die with cutting blade down – cutting pad.  Curl ends of tags with the bone folder. Glue in place under the Vanilla panel.  Set aside.

Die cut Merry from the Expressions Thinlits or Christmas Greetings Thinlits in Cranberry Crisp 1-3/4” x 4-1/2” cardstock.  Sandwich is: Magnetic platform – cutting pad - cardstock – wax paper - die with cutting blade down – cutting pad.  Save the negative piece for later.  Color with clear Wink of Stella.  Set aside.

Cover the words with tape, leaving ‘Christmas’ exposed from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set.  Ink with True Thyme ink, remove the tape and stamp on to a 1” wide scrap of Vanilla cardstock.  Punch with the Word Window punch.  Apply Dimensionals and set aside.

Use Press ‘n Seal wrap technique to adhere the intricate die.  Lay right side of Merry on Press ‘n Seal wrap.  Press lightly to make the image cling.  Apply Fine Tip glue pen to the die.

Pick up the Press ‘n Seal wrap and transfer Merry to the card.  Press in place.

Discard Press ‘n Seal wrap. No mess!!

Add Christmas.  Set aside.

Cut Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine 7”.  Thread through the paper button and tie a bow.  Curl ends with the bone folder.  Adhere button above the flags with a glue dot.  Trim thread if necessary.

Once I am done fiddling with everything, I add a little puddle of Tombow glue to the knot on my bow hoping that helps it from coming undone.

Remember the writing tablet?  Perfect for the inside of cards.  Fold a piece in half. Stamp with a phrase and an image if desired.  Adhere to inside of the card.

Sponge over the negative Merry die on the front of a kraft envelope made using the envelope punch board.

Gingerbread Man card - One Hour Card Class 036 OHCC036

Another layout I found on Pinterest!

Cherry Cobbler card.  Sign the back.

White panel 4” x 5-1/2”, which I know, is the same size as the card.  I find Cable Knit embossing folder shrinks the cardstock a bit so I would sooner cut it bigger then trim to fit my card.  Using the Stampin’ Spritzer, spritz cardstock with water on both sides before putting it in the Cable Knit embossing folder - it is suggested that the card stock be lightly spritzed with water to relax the paper fibers so that they will stretch and not break while being embossed.  Because the folder is so thick the Sandwich is a bit different: Regular platform – cardstock in embossing folder – cutting pad.  Set aside to dry.

Cut Presents and Pinecones DSP at 1-1/2” x 5-1/4”.  Over stamp with the ornaments from the Cozy Critters stamp set in Crumb Cake ink.  Set aside.

Cut Cherry Cobbler cardstock 1” x 5-1/4”.  Punch one long edge with the Scallop border punch and adhere to top of DSP.  Adhere to Cable Knit panel.  Lay panel on card front but do not adhere.  Trim if necessary.  Set aside.

Cut Taupe ribbon 10” long.  Wrap around a ‘D’ clear block.  Tie a knot.  Trim both ends on an angle.

Remove from block.  Set on Cable Knit panel to determine where to cut it.

Tape ends to the back.  Adhere to card front.

Pop a glue dot behind knot of ribbon.  Set aside.

Cut a 2-1/2” circle – I used my Coluzzle as that is what I have - from the Emerald Envy cardstock.  Apply Dimensionals and adhere to card front. Set aside.

Stamp the gingerbread man from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set on to a 2” wide strip of white cardstock using Crumb Cake ink.  Punch out with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch.  Adhere so that his feet are at the bottom of the circle.

Cut a strip 1-1/2” wide of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Punch the main hat piece and two hearts using the Jolly Hat Builder punch.  Run the hat through the Square Lattice embossing folder

Adhere hearts to the gingerbread man for buttons.  Color hearts with the clear Wink of Stella

Cut a scrap of white cardstock ¾” wide.  Stamp using the Touches of Texture stamp set and Cherry Cobbler ink.

Punch the band and pompom out with the Jolly Hat Builder punch.  Assemble hat on the gingerbread man.

Color two pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels with a black Sharpie

Adhere to gingerbread man for eyes.

Remember the writing tablet?  Perfect for the inside of cards.  Fold a piece in half. Stamp with a phrase and an image if desired.  Adhere to inside of the card.

Make an envelope from Christmas wrapping paper using the envelope punch board.

Drapery Pullback Card Tutorial - One Hour Card Class 024 OHCC024

Stamp: Reason for the Season.
Cardstock: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Holiday Thyme DSP (retired), 8” square DSP paper for envelope.
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive.
Accessories: Snail Adhesive, Tombow Glue, envelope punch board, Stampin’ Trimmer, scissors, bone folder, pencil, Sponges, Dimensionals, silicone craft sheet, Metallic Glitter Tape (SAB 2016) or Gold Glimmer paper, lace, stylus, gold glitter glue.
Punch: Festive Flower Builder.

Prepare card by cutting Old Olive cardstock at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”.  Fold in half for a side fold card – a bone folder gives you a crisp fold.  Stamp and sign the back.  Set aside.

Cut a vanilla panel at 5-1/4” x 4” for the inside of the card.  Sponge edges Cherry Cobbler.  Cover the ‘To You’ part of the phrase with scotch tape.

Ink the stamp in Old Olive.

Remove tape and stamp the phrase.

Ink the poinsettia stamp in Cherry Cobbler once and stamp three times at the bottom of the panel.  Add gold glitter glue to the centers.  Set aside to dry.

Cut a piece of Holiday Thyme DSP 3-3/4” x 5-1/2".  Sponge top and bottom of panel with Cherry Cobbler (the sides will be covered).  Along the 5-1/2" side, I went to the center marking (2-3/4") and made a 1-3/4" long pencil mark on my paper.  Score from the dot to the corners of the DSP.  Cut on the pencil mark.  Fold the two flaps back. Sponge the edges and the fold.  Slightly curl both points.  Adhere panel to card front with the points of the DSP at the points of the card front.

Draw a line about 3/8” from fold of card.  Adhere lace to the right of that line.

Apply glitter tape next to the fold to cover the edge of lace.  Trim top and bottom.

Stamp the phrase onto the card at the drapery opening with Cherry ink.  Place Dimensionals behind each flap - about half way between the drapery fold and points.

Stamp and punch eight double petals in Cherry Cobbler.  Sponge edges in cherry.  Draw a score line down the center of each petal.  Fold on the score line and pinch the points.  Glue four petals together at a time then glue the eight together.  Re-pinch the ends.  Glue to the drapery opening point on the card.

Punch two double petals from Old Olive.  Sponge edges in olive.  Draw a score line down the center of each petal.  Fold on the score line and pinch the points.  Rip the petals in half and adhere under the poinsettia in a pleasing manner.

Press about ½” of glitter tape on to light weight cardstock.  Punch out the "X" flower center from the punch.  Repeat for another center.

Glue one to the center of the flower.  Alternate direction and glue second center.

Make an envelope from DSP using the envelope punch board.

If the glitter glue is dry on the Vanilla panel, adhere it to the inside of the card.
