Milestone Birthday – 3 years old – B03a

A fellow stamper had made covers for date books for co-workers some time ago with the receivers initial on it instead of the #.  I took her idea and turned it into a card.  I made the #3 in Word then mirrored it. To do that, Right click on the text box – choose Format Shape – choose 3D Rotation in the left pane – change the X setting to 180 – click OK.  It is done! The ‘years old’ was also done on the computer.  I hand drew the tag.

Today's the day we get to say
We're happy you were born--Hooray!

Happy 3rd birthday!

Sewing – Sewing Machine Cushion

Another find on Pinterest!  I love it as I always end up with a pile of pins lying around the sewing machine or my other trick is I leave my regular pin cushion on the kitchen table!

I measured the flat part of the front of my sewing machine which was about 3” tall x 4.5” wide.

So I cut my fabric 5.25” x 6” to allow for seam allowances.  Press under the short ends about ¼”.

Lightly press in half with wrong sides together.

Wrap ¾” elastic around the sides and back of the sewing machine.  Add 4” onto that measurement and cut.

Cut that 4” off.  Now you have 2 pieces.

Pin elastics about half way between the folded and pressed lines.

Pin and sew both side seams.  Just be careful not to catch the elastic tails.

Sew about 1” of the top closed from both ends.  Wrapping the corners helps make a nice point.

It should look like this now.

Stuff with steel wool.  Did you know that steel wool is supposed to sharpen pins and needles?

Stitch hole closed.

Wrap your pin cushion around your machine to make a snug fit.  You may have to trim off some of the elastic.  Attach Velcro to each end of the elastic.

Attach it to your sewing machine and you will always have a pincushion right at the most convenient spot.

You can turn it to the inside of your sewing machine if that is more convenient!  Isn't it just the simplest things that make life so much easier?

Milestone Birthday – 2 years old – B02d

Found this card by Dana.  Really liked it so I copied it (my favorite thing to do!).  I used the wing from the Bird Builder punch for the flame and sponged it with Pumpkin Pie.  I put glitter glue on the top part of it and while it was still wet, dipped it in Dazzling Diamonds.  The stripe paper was cut at 2.5x4”; the dots at 3x2.5” and the white at 2x3.5”.  The candles were cut at a half inch wide by 2” long.  I tapered the tops a bit before mounting them on to Kraft cs. I used the Soft Suede marker to join the candle and flame. No stamps were used.  A poem for a 2 year old card.

Today you are two and changing each day

More fun to chat with and more fun to play

You run around laughing and say funny things

Not knowing the fun your being here brings!

You spread such joy to the whole family

As we watch you change on your way to being three!

Craft - A Quick Yarn Pompom

Cut a piece of yarn about 12” long and set aside.  Wrap yarn around your middle and index fingers about 30 times.

With the yarn still on your fingers, wrap the 12” around the pompom in between your fingers.  Tie once loosely.

Replace your fingers with a pencil at both ends.  Now, tie the 12” yarn tightly around in a double knot.

Follow the pencil with your scissors, remove the pencil and cut the loops.  Repeat with the other pencil.

Fluff carefully.  Trim with scissors if any yarn pieces are hanging out awkwardly.  This made about a 3” pompom using Boa yarn by Bernat.

Milestone Birthday – 2 years old – B02a

Here is the beginning of the 2 year old cards.  I don’t know the name of the Swirly wheel I used but it is by SU!.  I did a little Faux Stitching.  Here is a poem for a 2 year old that I got off the net.

Turning two is a big task

Growing up is a big ask

Being a baby is all fun and play

Growing up makes the fun go away

Enjoy this year as you turn two

Of innocence these are the years few
