Workshop Cards - W013, W014, W015

Here are some more cards we made at Joanne’s workshop a while back.  I didn’t mark down the ‘ingredients’ I used to make them.  If you are familiar with SU! products, you will probably recognize them.  If there is something you would like to know, just email me and I will find out what we used.

Thank you for stopping by.  Both Joanne and I are SU! demonstrators so if at any time you would like to purchase SU! products, give her a call or from my Blog, click on the Shop Now button.  Your order will be delivered right to you (you do have to give SU! a street address, not a box #).

Milestone Birthday - 1 Year old - B01a

I started making 'milestone' birthday cards for my grandkids, great nieces and nephews about 10 years ago.  I would like to share them with you.  For this one, I used wallpaper as my background paper and, yes, that is a top off a pop can that I have threaded the ribbon thro!  Computer generated 'Look who's one'.  I hand drew the tag and balloon.  Found this poem on the net so used it for the inside.

A year’s gone by, how time has flown!

We can’t believe how much you’ve grown!

You’re such a joy and so much fun.

Hurray!  Today you are turning ONE!

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, White, Wallpaper.
Punch: 1/16" hole.

Accessories: Ribbon, Pop can top, thread.

Stamp: SU!.

MDS 153, Adorable is Our Middle Name Scrapbook Page

As usual, I used a sketch to get me going.  It is attached below.  MDS makes it very easy to send items to the back or bring them to the front which I did with the hearts and stitching.  I also used to Crop tool to shorten the stitching lines.  Not only is the software free for 30 days but there several free downloads that you can grab and have a play with too.  That said though, there is so much content already loaded in the software itself that you may or may not want to add more to it until you have had a play.  Click on the ‘Shop Now’ button at the top of my Blog for more info.

SU230 Valentine Owl

Here is my take on the owl punch for this month.  I free-hand cut the two large hearts; ran the white one through the Woodgrain embossing folder and swiped it with my black ink pad.  Most everything was sponged in black.  I stamped white cardstock with the Cheesecloth stamp before punching them out with the Heart to Heart punch.

Stamps – Holiday Best, Cheesecloth.

Card Stock - Black, White, Real Red, Real Red DSP.

Ink - Black, Real Red.

Accessories - sponge, Owl Builder punch, Woodgrain embossing folder, Hexagon embossing folder, wide oval punch, Heart to Heart punch, black grosgrain ribbon, scallop edge punch.

MDS 152, My Dance Dress Scrapbook Page

Found another Sketch that suited my pictures!  So glad there is talented people out there that create a boost for me!  Nothing tricky about this page.  For the ‘scallop’ border on the right side, I resized the circle punch, paper filled it then copied and pasted until I had enough to fit the page.  I used the Align tool to space them perfectly for me.  MDS Software is easy enough for beginners, but includes a variety of tools for advanced designers too. Anyone can try it FREE for 30 days! Click on the ‘Shop Now’ button at the top of my Blog and download it (item 130910) or you can order the MDS Trial Disc 10 Packs (item 132919) to get it into your hands!

Sewing – Elastic Neck Child’s Tea Towel Apron

This apron with elastic around the neck is so much easier for little ones to “do it themselves”!  I needed to cut my towel to about 17” long for my 3 year old cook.   I cut it off the top to leave the hemmed piece at the bottom.  Then, fold the towel in half.  From the center fold, measure out 2.5”.  From the sides, measure down 6”.  Join the two pins with your ruler and cut off.  Although this is not the apron I used, you want it to end up looking like this – just follow the above measurements if you are making one for a 3 year old.

Follow these instructions for making your own binding tape.  Let us now apply it to this apron. I attached a piece across the top using a zigzag stitch.

I stitched together 14” for one tie, encased one edge of the apron until I got to the neck piece.  I measured out 21” of binding to go around the neck, left a small opening to thread elastic at each end, and continued sewing the other side of the apron and tie.

I used 10” of one eighth wide elastic to thread through the opening.

I sewed the hole closed; catching the elastic in the seam, then trimmed the elastic.

My 3 year old is ready to bake!
